enterpriseSeattle's mission is to be a "difference-maker" in the community by growing the jobs and tax base
in King County, its 39 cities and the greater Puget Sound region. It accomplishes its mission through a
customized client services program focused on business retention, expansion and recruitment. It's objective is to become the premier economic development organization in the US.
Life Sciences 160 life science companies with over 12,500 employees are located in King County. Seattle is home to over a dozen research institutes, and the nation's leading public research university.
Clean Technology Over 400 companies in Washington employing 16,000 people make our region one of the largest concentrations of environmental and alternative energy businesses in the nation.
Information Technology The most recognizable names in information technology call King County home. These pioneers include Amazon, Expedia, Microsoft, Nintendo, and RealNetworks.
International Trade and Logistics The Seattle area plays a strategic role in the new global economy. One in three jobs in Washington State support international trade.
Aerospace King County hosts more than 40,000 aerospace jobs with over 170 aerospace companies, making it the largest commercial aviation center in the country.

Obama calls McKinstry a
"Model for the Nation"
President-elect Barack Obama recently recognized Seattle-based construction and energy-services contractor McKinstry as a "model for the nation", in its work focused on retrofitting schools and office buildings to make them more energy-efficient.
McKinstry’s Executive Vice President David Allen, who serves as Board Chair for enterpriseSeattle, credits his initial involvement and participation in the organization for introducing McKinstry to the opportunities in the Clean Tech sector.

Since 2005 the company has expanded and added over 400 jobs directly related to its energy and Clean Tech work.
"It really all began when I joined enterpriseSeattle and became aware of the opportunities in Clean Tech." said Allen.

enterpriseSeattle wins big at the 2008 International Economic Development Conference
Clean Technology Practice - Sustainable and Green Development category -
In late 2004, enterpriseSeattle saw sustainability and green development as having significant growth potential,
and realized that Seattle and the Puget Sound region had particular advantages.
A five year work plan was prepared, with four objectives: assistance to new and emerging firms, marketing of
the region as a national center for clean technology, formation of a clean technology business association,
and collaboration with other organizations to meet the cluster’s needs.
World Cyber Games/ The Power of Play - Special Event -
In 2007 the "Olympics" for the video game industry came to Seattle. World Cyber Games (WCG) has over 70 participating countries and over 300 members of the global press in attendance. Work began in 2005 to recruit this event to Seattle. In addition to recuriting the WCG to the area, we created a unique business-to-business event called "The Power of Play" which took place alongside the games.

HONORABLE MENTION
enterpriseSeattle’s 35th Annual Economic Forecast Conference was a milestone event for the organization.
The goal for the half day conference was to create a program worthy of the organization’s 35th anniversary year by highlighting an emerging industry cluster - Philanthropy.
